About
Creative Journeys JewelryThank you for vising my website!
My business name is Creative Journeys Jewelry which reflects my aesthetics & inspirations found in travel and nature. It also is indicative of my love for the creative process of making jewelry.
I have been making jewelry for over 30 years and although now retired, I am still passionate about making jewelry! As a lifelong learner, I still continue to enjoy local and nationwide workshops taught by renowned jewelry artists. These courses have helped me to improve my technical skills, learn new design techniques, and exchange creative ideas with other artists.
I fabricate all my jewelry in my small personal studio. Each piece is designed and thoughtfully created by my hands.
For the past several years, I have explored other aspects of metalsmithing and learned to create movable, interactive and surprisingly delightful jewelry designs. I am fortunate to be able to share these techniques in local workshops.
The creative process of making jewelry often amazes me when the design takes on a life of its own. The process begins with a design concept drawn on paper before fabrication from silver sheet and wire. The metal is embossed and/or stamped for texture, cut and filed to the appropriate size. Semi-precious stone and accent elements are strategically selected and placed to form the design. At this point, I explore alternative design options such as adding (or taking away) additional metal elements or stones, changing a curve, or adding negative space to the piece. This is where the magic happens and the design is finalized before soldering, filing, cleaning, oxidizing and polishing to create the finished piece.
I hope you enjoy my jewelry as much as I enjoy making it! My goal is to continue this creative journey in jewelry making and to reflect my passion in unique, inspired & relevant jewelry.
